Use desktop pets

Desktop pets are a local client feature. They appear by default after your first sign-in; the client remembers if you turn them off. Pet preferences, imported pets, and position stay on this computer and are not synced to your Lumoswitch account.

Show or find your pet

  1. Open Settings → Desktop pet.
  2. Turn on Show desktop pet. If you cannot find it, select Find pet to move it to the bottom-right of the screen containing the client.
  3. Drag the pet where you want it. Turn on Lock position to prevent dragging and wandering; clicks still work.

Check the result: The pet is visible on the desktop. After using Find pet, it should be at the bottom-right of the current screen. A locked pet stays in place when dragged.

Click the pet for an interaction, double-click to open its status overview, or right-click for a menu. Settings in the overview opens the same pet settings page.

Adjust sound, position, and quiet time

  • Turn Interaction sound on or off in Settings → Desktop pet. The speaker icon at the top of the overview is a quick mute control and stays in sync with this setting. Sound is for the default Lumo only; work updates are silent.
  • Expand Customize sound to set volume, base pitch (Low, Original, or Bright), syllables per click, and the separate pitch-variation switch. Defaults are Original pitch, variation on, and three syllables per click. With variation off, clicks use the selected pitch without random variation.
  • Timed do not disturb pauses sound, wandering, and bubbles for 30 or 60 minutes, then restores your settings. Focus mode keeps automatic wandering and bubbles paused until you turn it off; clicks still work.

Check the result: Clicking the default Lumo plays the selected sound; muting makes clicks silent; the quiet-mode setting shows an end time and restores your prior preferences afterward.

Browse and add community pets

Browse Community → Desktop pets or open Settings → Desktop pet → Discover more. Preview a work, then add it to this computer. To switch, select the pet in settings and choose Use this pet. To import a local image or pet package, choose Add pet in Settings → Desktop pet.

Check the result: The new pet appears in your local pet list. The desktop changes only after you choose to use it. Community pages also offer favorites, search, update previews, and reports; the client will prompt you if sign-in or a network connection is needed.

Website publishing availability depends on the entry shown on the Lumoswitch site you are using. Submissions require source, license, and AI disclosures plus review. One-click AI generation is not available in the client. A creator's source statement is not platform copyright verification.

Troubleshooting

  • The pet is enabled but missing: Choose Find pet and check other screens. If settings could not be read, follow the restart prompt; do not reset the settings repeatedly.
  • Sound does not change: Confirm you are using the default Lumo, interaction sound is on, and timed quiet mode is not active. Close and reopen Customize sound, then preview again.
  • The pet will not move: Check whether Lock position is on, then unlock it before dragging.
  • The community will not load: Check your network and retry. A community error does not remove pets already stored locally.
  • Adding a pet did not switch it: Adding saves a local copy but does not switch automatically. Select the new pet and choose Use this pet.
